The 21st edition of the ‘Eroica’ (Heroic) bike race took place on unpaved roads of the Chianti and Crete Senesi regions with participants on bikes manufactured prior to 1987. With a starting line in Gaiole in Chianti, 7.500 bikers from 58 different countries met at the starting line in Gaiole in Chianti to ride a variety of itineraries ranging from 32k (20mi), 46k (29mi) to 78k (48mi), 130k (80mi) and 209k (129 mi), and were on the road from 5 in the morning to after 8 pm through Radda, Montalcino, Castelnuovo Beradenga, Asciano and even the Val d’Arbia with rest and dining stops included along the way.
