According to the Times of London, tycoon Elon Musk might be negotiating the purchase of the fortified Bibbiano castle near Buoncovento, Siena.
Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and SpaceX, might have grasped the beauty of the village during his stay in Castiglion del Bosco. The 2,000-hectare luxury resort was rated the best in the world by the American travel magazine Travel + Leisure.
While chatter and curiosity increase about the use that Musk could make of the 19th-century castle and the new face he could give it, the fact presents itself instead in the guise of a huge question mark. Perhaps it can be related to the law enacted after the Brexit referendum: the very rich can now pay a flat tax of 100,000 euros per year and obtain a European passport and an Italian residency. The only certainty in this story is that the province of Siena, with its cities of art and well-aligned rows of cypresses, continues to steal the hearts of national and international visitors.
