As goes the old adage, a dog is a man’s best friend, though people do not always treat dogs with the love they deserve. Eight puppies and their mother were found this weekend abandoned by the side of the A1 highway in Arezzo. A woman driving by on the A1 expressway noticed the dogs abandoned in a “brown, foreign-looking car” and immediately called the police, though she was unable to report the car’s license plate or model.

The Ponte a Poppi Arezzo traffic police arrived within minutes, and rescued the animals. The Arezzo police recorded all vehicular information, and are following up with the case to try and identify the perpetrator. Officials placed the dogs in care of a veterinarian, and as of now they are in good health. Hopefully they will each find loving homes soon. (isabelle blank)
