A new regional law prohibits firms outside Tuscany in the future to bottle Chianti wine in the future. The decree is not retroactive and will not affect the 17 companies that already do so. Of these, three are located in European Union member states while 14 are outside the EU including Canada and countries in Asia. Only 1% of DOCG Chianti is currently bottled outside of the Tuscany, and the percentage is now not destined to increase. To read more in Italian, visit Florence’s La Repubblica news site.
