In a harmonious convergence of artistry and symbolism, the picturesque town of Marina di Pietrasanta welcomed the inauguration of “Building Bridges,” a monumental installation crafted by the Italo-American artist Lorenzo Quinn. His creation emerged as a beacon of hope and inspiration, transcending boundaries and fostering a collective vision of peace and unity. This sculpture, characterized by six intertwined pairs of hands reaching towards the sky, not only graces the Versilia coastline but also embodies universal values.
The six pairs of hands celebrate friendship, for our future together; Faith, trusting in one’s heart and self-esteem; Aid, to build lasting relationships; Love, the fundamental purpose of everything; Hope, persevering in worthy efforts; Wisdom, for mutually beneficial decisions. The version of “Building Bridges” visible in front of the Pontile di Tonfano is the “twin” of the installation on display at the Arsenale in Venice, where Quinn will also be involved in major exhibitions during the “60th Biennale d’Arte” year.
The viewing of the artwork will remain in place until October 6. “I am very proud to present my sculpture ‘Building Bridges’ in Marina di Pietrasanta,” said Quinn, “because from here I intend to launch a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who encounter it. This work of art embodies the timeless message of love and unity, urging us to transcend our differences and connect on a deeper level. Just as it stands in the beauty of Marina di Pietrasanta, ‘Building Bridges’ is not just a physical structure but a symbol of our collective journey towards a more compassionate and united world. Let us embrace its message, allowing it to guide us in building bridges of understanding and empathy across all divides.”
Quinn is an internationally renowned figure sculptor. He studied at the American Academy of Fine Arts in New York, where he realized his future lay in sculpture. All of his public pieces convey his passion for eternal values and authentic emotions. Most of the artwork often has charitable and philanthropic purposes, such as pieces set up in Park Lane, Berkeley Square, and Cadogan Garden in London, at the Casina Valadier in Rome, and at the Paramount Group skyscraper in New York.
Lorenzo Quinn’s “Building Bridges” installation in Marina di Pietrasanta stands as a testament to the enduring power of art to inspire, unite, and transcend barriers. Through its symbolic representation of universal values and its call for empathy and understanding, Quinn’s sculpture invites viewers to reflect on their shared humanity and collective journey towards a more compassionate world. As it graces the Versilia coastline and resonates with audiences around the globe, “Building Bridges” serves as a reminder of the transformative potential of art to foster dialogue, connection, and positive change in our communities and beyond.
