Due to heavy rain and snow, a landslide has blocked the route that connects Borgo San Lorenzo with Palazzuolo su Senio, with the result that the latter, located high in the mountains, is inaccessible with the exception of the winding road down to Marradi.
The residents of Palazzuolo have also been without electricity, phone service, and water for over 24 hours. Local ENEL electric company is working to resolve the problem. Six inches (15 cm) of snow covers the town’s homes, streets and squares. Satellite dishes on the roofs of local homes have also suffered damage because of the storm.
