Tuscan Beach Photo Fatal for Italian Woman from Turin

Eleonora Parisi

Eleonora Parisi, 43, died at a Tuscan beach resort on September 6 at 1 pm while posing, smiling, for a photo.  A native of Settimo Torinese (Turin), she came down for the weekend to spend time with her boyfriend in Florence and they decided to spend Sunday at Tirrenia, just south of Pisa.  They went swimming and then for a walk along the coast.  The couple stopped at a beach club to have a coffee where they spotted an art installation made of stone in a private area with a sign “Do Not Enter.” Eleonora decided to pose for a photo in front of the work, placing her hands above her head on a stone beam which then collapsed upon her.  The police and an ambulance arrived quickly, but medical workers could do nothing at that point to help her.
