Cold Wave Arriving in Tuscany

With Tuscan temperatures expected to drop to 23 degree Fahrenheit (-5 Celsius) in the early morning of January 4, ice is expected to form on the roads and drivers are cautioned to install chains or snow tires.  Temperatures are expected to fall even further during the weekend, with lows of 21°F (-6 Celsius) expected in the city and 17° F (-8 Celsius) in the hills.

The cold air is arriving from Siberia.  Senior citizens are advised to spend as little time outside as possible and Publiacqua is asking consumers to pad external water meters to protect from breakage.  To read more in Italian, visit Florence’s La Repubblica news site.
