‘Waiting for Autumnia,’ Festival Preview Events at Figline & Incisa Valdarno

 

The Tuscan township of Figline & Incisa Valdarno are hosting Halloween events and more in a program called “Waiting for Autumnia” as a prelude to the November Autumnia Festival.  The wines of the Valdarno area will be illustrated by members of the Italian Sommelier Association on Thursday, October 23 at the Circlo Fanin in Figline on Thursday, October 23  at 9 pm followed by a guided tasting.  A festive workshop for pumpkin-caving, costume making and more in preparation of the scariest week of the year will take place on Saturday, October 25 at the Incisa Town Library starting at 10 am.  This is followed by a open day at the Miniere Golf Club starting at noon.  A book presentation of “Uomini e donne nelle campagne”(Men and Women in the Countryside”) is scheduled on Sunday, October 26 at the Incisa Library.

Food events will take place during the last week of October, starting with “Vivo e vegeto!” that will present creative vegetarian recipes using seasonal local products (Wednesday, October 29) at Figline’s Casa Mè Mà restaurant, while a presentation by the Valdisieve and Valdarno chapters of Slow Food Association is planned on Friday, October 31 (4 pm).  Fitness is the theme at an open day at the Bodytec health center accessible to all from 11 am to 6 pm.  Students are welcome to learn more about the local nature habitat at a conference from 10 am to 2 pm.
