Master Italian chocolate makers will be displaying and selling their delectable treats at Un Prato di Cioccolato chocolate fair in Prato’s Piazza del Duomo through October 19 (hours: Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 10 pm, Saturday 10 am to midnight, Sunday 10 am to 8 pm).
A hand-on experience, “Chocolate Lessons” is offered for aspiring chocolatiers are offered (€30 a session, reservation required). For kids, “Choco Baby” workshop on creating chocolates held daily from 3:30 to 5:30 pm (free admission; no reservation needed). Subsequently, adults can enjoy a “Choco Aperitivo” which pairs tapas with wine, spritzes and artisanal beers, followed by chocolates (every evening).
Concerts will take place throughout the day on Saturday, Oct. 18, which also see master food artisans (also from the Mattei biscotti company) fashion a Guinness world record 43 meter (141 ft.) chocolate bar that will be broken up and sold, with proceeds going to UNICEF. There will be more fun on Sunday, Oct. 19: a demonstration on how to make chocolate pastries is scheduled, followed by Scottish dancing.
