A mural curated by British street artist known by the pseudonym ‘D*Face’, was unveiled to the public in Livorno on November 15, 2025. The piece, titled ‘Burn Your Shadow Away’, honours Mary Shelley, the English author of the gothic classic novel Frankenstein, and can be viewed on the façade of a building at Via Luigi Bosi 4.
Inspired by Mary Shelley’s repeated visits to Livorno, the mural pays tribute to her connection to the city through the artistic interpretation of D*Face, whose art draws influence from punk culture, American comics and vintage pop. Following the unveiling of the mural, the artist was welcomed by Livorno’s community to deliver a public talk – just one of the many events organised through the collaboration of two Livorno-based cultural organisations, MuraLI and FiPiLi Horror Festival. The mural continues to support and promote accessible art and cultural spaces, helping draw attention to lesser-known areas.
The final opportunity to take part in the programme of events will be through a guided street art tour of Livorno on Saturday, November 29, at 4 pm. The tour, curated by the Agave Cooperative and MuraLI Association, will conclude with the mural as its final stop.
