Tuscan Baby Left in Car, Dies

The 18-month-old baby girl was inadvertently left in a parked car at Vada (Livorno) on Tuesday morning, July 26, died in Florence’s Meyer Pediatric Hospital on the evening of July 27.

The day before, on her way to work the mother dropped off the child’s sister at summer camp and was supposed to leave the baby at a nursery school, but forgot.  At noon she suddenly remembered the child strapped in a car seat, and went back to get her.  The baby, who had been left alone in the heat for four hours, sadly did not make it.  The report cited the fact that 36 children in the United States die each year in similar circumstances.
