Fiesole’s Michelucci Garden, part of the estate of the late architect Giovanni Michelucci (1891 – 1990) will be inaugurated on February 4 with an open day for the public from 2 – 6 pm. The estate is located at via Angelico #15.
There are plans to host concerts, art and music workshops theatrical performances in the garden as well as historic house tours of the adjacent Villa il Roseto from March to October. On the occasion of the grand opening, a crowdfunding project will be launched with the aim of reaching 10,000 euros by March 2, a sum which, if achieved will be matched by the a local bank foundation, the Ente Cassa di Risparmio.
Giovanni Michelucci is best remembered for having designed Florence’s Santa Maria Novella train station and the San Giovanni “Church of the Motorway” on the A1 highway. To read more in Italian, visit Florence’s La Repubblica news site.
