June 11 – 12: FESTA DELLA MUSICA music festival. Pratolino Park, Florence (bus 25). Free admission.
Summer has arrives in the city, and the parks fill up with singing birds and visitors.
The Demidoff Musical and Cultural Association have organized a ‘musical weekend’ (June 11-12) at the Medici Park of Pratolino, to celebrate the first 25 years of their music school.
Saturday starts with a guitar and violin concert (11 am- 12:30 pm), followed by a piano concert in the afternoon (3 – 5 pm). The event continues on Sunday with a musical collaboration of a pianist, percussions and drums featuring the band ‘I Queen’ (10:30 am – 12 noon).
The park’s signature landmark is the Giambologna statue “The Giant of the Apennines” (pictured).
