Monday, July 4: ROMEO AND JULIET. Roman Theatre, Fiesole. 9:30 pm. Admission: €15

 The talented dancers of the Florence Junior Ballet will perform the immortal story of the two young lovers from Verona, separated by family rivalries. Choreographed especially for the young dancers by internationally known choreographer Davide Bombana to the music of Sergei Prokofiev, the stage comes alive with Shakespeare’s classic tragedy. The Maître de ballet Sabrina Vitangeli has rehearsed and trained the company.

Tuesday, July 5: OTHELLO. Roman Theatre, Fiesole. 9:30 pm. Admission: €15

 The Opus Ballet Company retells Shakespeare’s tragedy of love, jealousy, betrayal, revenge and redemption starring Othello the Moor and his beloved wife Desdemona. Past and present intertwine in this rendition with contemporary electronic sounds playing the music of Giuseppe Verdi. This ancient story of feminicide, skillfully choreographed by Arianna Benedetti, is sure to please all lovers of dance and intrigue.

Friday, July 8: DANCE GALA: YOUNG STARS ON A SUMMER NIGHT. Roman Theatre, Fiesole. 9:30 pm. Admission: €18

Created by artistic director Alessandro Bigonzetti with principal performers from Amsterdam, Munich, Bordeaux, Rome and Milan’s La Scala, the evening of dance in the ancient Roman theatre should fill the night with beauty. The ensemble, composed from young dancers of the Junior Ballet of Tuscany, Kaos Ballet Florence, Opus Ballet Company and the Ballet School of La Scala, take the stage for a celebration of dance.  (rita kungel)
